BIOGRAPHY
From the football field as an NFL Houston Oilers Cheerleader, to the stage and studio as Recording Artist Melva. Even early in her career as a country artist, Melva was performing in Montego Bay, Jamaica, Las Vegas, and many Texas venues landing her in Nashville, performing many Nashville venues, and in many great recording studios, such as Hilltop, Germantown, Oceanway, County Q, Ultra Sound Productions and The Red Room Nashville.
Her delivery of both contemporary and classic country songs along with her ability to mix a taste of soul and her love for the motown sound, has given Melva many opportunities to share the studio with a long list of talent, top industry producers, award winning songwriters, and musicians in the industry, among which are Nashville Hall of Fame Songwriter Red Lane.
Often Melva has appeared and performed on special projects, including the single “Don’t Feel Sorry For Me,” written by Artist Tommy Allen to honor the U.S. Military, and the I-Tunes single, “What Becomes Of The Brokenhearted” and it’s Music Video shot by HTV Studios, raising the awareness of homeless in Houston, Texas.
Melva, also an Illustrative Artist and watercolorist, recently launched www.theartofmelva.com and her original paintings, drawings and artwork is available for viewing and purchase online and coming soon digital downloads of her work will be available for prints. She has created commissioned pieces and produced work for clients regionally and internationally. Melva holds a Bachelors of Fine Arts Degree in Drawing and Design from Texas State University and also an Associate of Arts Degree in Graphic Communications and Commercial Art.
Melva is an active member of the Houston Oilers Derrick Dolls Alumni, the National NFL Alumni Association and the National Football Cheerleaders Alumni Organization.
She also has several singles available on iTunes including “Out Of The Blue” and “Obvious” produced by Nashville’s multi-instrumentalist and producer Tyler Summers.

Melva’s single “Out of the Blue,” is available now on iTunes! The track along with her previous singles “Obvious” and “Letting You Go” was co-written by Melva’s daughter, Melany Watson, and was recorded and produced by Nashville’s Tyler Summers, a multi-instrumentalist who has worked with Aretha Franklin, Lee Ann Womack, Feist, Spoon and Natalie Grant, among others. The track also features a host of Nashville musicians. Steven Darden, of American Idol Season 8, provides background vocals, with Wes Little (Joe Nichols) on drums, and Kris Donegan (Sara Evans) on guitar. The track was mixed and mastered by The Maze Group’s Paul Umbach (Matt White, Nine Days, Aaron Carter, Britney Spears).
